While it is blustery and bitter cold outside, there are plenty of events staged at The Greater Philadelphia EXPO Center at Oaks get you ready for the outdoors, whether that means prepping the perfect garden, fishing for bass or cycling the Schuylkill River Bank Trail.

“Putt” your golf skills to use this spring with help from the Philadelphia Golf Show, February 10-12, which brings a huge selection of golf equipment, apparel and accessories and entertaining yet informative stage presentations and demonstrations. Burn off all the pounds gained from Grandma’s egg nog, gingerbread cookies and honey baked ham with gear and expert advice at the largest cycling, running and triathlon expo in the country, the Endurance Sports Expo, February 25-26. Nationally recognized professional and Olympic athletes, coaches, and industry insiders will share their expertise all weekend during the Endurance University seminars and national brands and local retailers will be on hand to help attendees find the right equipment for 2012 and offer deals on top products.

Thrills for adults and kids alike are as abundant as mosquitoes on a humid day at the Greater Philadelphia Outdoor Sportshow, February 16-19. Learn how to bait and hook like the pros, meet daredevils, and mine for treasure. Watch “Swampmaster” Jeff Quattrocchi, an Orlando-based professional alligator wrestler, wrangle with these ferocious reptiles! Witness Jack Dagger: The King of Fling, world-renowned knife throwing comedian, perform original, “sharp” tricks. Enroll in Bass University, the number one school for bass fishing with classes led by 2011 FWC Champ Scott Martin, and receive free admission to the show. Kids will LOVE exploring the Cold River Mining Company’s “Cave,” a dark, cavernous atmosphere where they can hunt for fossils.  During the first week of March, plan even MORE ways to make a great escape this spring and summer, with the Greater Philadelphia RV Show, March 1-4, and the Greater Philadelphia Boat Show, March 2-4.

From February 23-26, The Suburban Home and Garden Show, a member of the National Home & Garden Show Series presented by Dish, features 500 companies with competitive pricing on home essentials and extravagances alike, including kitchens, bathrooms, fireplaces, windows, siding, doors, roofing, appliances, landscaping, air conditioning, heating, flooring, green products, décor, furniture, hot tubs and more. Featured gardens created by professional landscaping companies offer expert services, plus, visitors will see a collection of beautiful gowns once worn by Diana, Princess of Wales. Also from February 24-26, drape your wardrobe and home with authentic Navajo, Hopi, Zuni, and Santo Domingo jewelry, as well as Navajo rugs, Hopi and Zuni kachinas, baskets, pottery, and collectibles at the American Indian Art & Jewelry Show.
